Fillings

One of the most common procedures is to repair the decayed teeth by filling of cavities brought about by dental caries. For the filling of teeth, there are various options available such as the silver filling or tooth coloured fillings.

Amalgam restorations :

It is the oldest type of filling around, and is easy to distinguish due to its silvery colour. The material used is a combination of a few metals which includes silver, tin and mercury. Though the strength of the material is very good and highly durable, it is less favoured due to the metallic colour.

Tooth coloured restorations :

These are tooth-coloured fillings with added bonding strength to the teeth. The materials used are either composites or glass ionomer cements which mimic the tooth colour and are one of the top choices of restoration of teeth.
